ImmunizeVA, the statewide immunization coalition in Virginia, was established in 2020 with the mission to protect the health and advance the well-being of all Virginians by optimizing immunization rates through developing and promoting education, collaboration and advocacy that is grounded in health equity. Although work to build this coalition preceded the current pandemic, the public health crisis has brought several urgent immunization needs to the forefront, including falling childhood and adult immunization rates, preparation for one of the most challenging flu seasons in recent history, outreach regarding new school vaccine requirements, and the upcoming vaccination challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. This internship offers public health students the ability to actively engage in public health coalition building while responding to urgent statewide needs.
