Human Services Director - Guilford County, North Carolina

Guilford County, (pop.512,000) located in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina with major population centers of Greensboro and High Point, is seeking a Human Services Director to lead the consolidated Department of Health and Human Services, a recently consolidated human services department with 972 full-time employees and a total operating budget for FY 2015/16 of $105.3 million.  The Human Services Director will have the opportunity to facilitate the completion and manage the implementation of the agency consolidation plan to include the organizational structure, vision, mission and core values, establishing DHHS Strategic Goals and benchmarks to measure performance.

The successful candidate will be a disciplined professional with strong leadership, management and collaboration skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with elected officials, department directors and community leaders as well  as non-profit and private sector service organizations.   The Human Services Director must possess strong analytical skills and have experience in strategic planning, managing special projects, conducting research and formulating policy recommendations, developing and administering budgets, and building partnerships in the community.  Proactive, goal oriented, visionary leader with excellent communication, critical thinking abilities and interpersonal skills that leads by example in the areas of integrity and work ethic that is comfortable working in and fostering an environment of  transparency, accountability, continuous organizational improvement and innovative and collaborative problem-solving.  Must understand, appreciate and have the ability to articulate to a diverse community how a holistic approach to providing public health and social services is the best way to improve community health outcomes, pathways to employment and financial independence and self-sufficiency.

The ideal candidate will have Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Human Services or Public Administration or other applicable administrative programs with six year’s experience  managing client services programs in an executive / director capacity in public health, social services, or a related human services field; Or, graduation with a four year degree with ten years management experience in a human services organization as stated above with significant experience in local government.

The starting salary for the position is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience within a range of $150,000 to $195,516.   Excellent benefits are also provided.
